Choices Ori made differently
- Chai’s privacy policy says chat data fine-tunes its models, with identifiers removed. Ori never uses conversations to train AI.
- Chai shows ads on its free subscription. Ori has no ads on any plan.
- You can call your Ori character. Chai’s listing describes voices, not calls.
- Characters you make yourself, rather than a catalog to browse. There are no other people’s characters to discover: every character in your Ori is one you designed.
- The rules are written down up front: adults only, romance allowed, sexually explicit content not. That rules out what some people want, and the rules are published in the Terms.
Where Chai is the better pick
- Variety: a massive selection of characters, and anyone can create more.
- Image generation from text prompts, with no limit on how many.
- No limit on the length or frequency of chats, according to its listing.
How we compared
This page is written by the team that makes Ori, so read it with that in mind. Every fact about Chai comes from Chai’s own website, help center, policies or app store listing, and each row links to its source. Where we couldn’t find something there, the table says so instead of guessing.
Chai’s own pages don’t cover messaging first or memory, so the table leaves those out.
Facts were checked on October 29, 2026. Apps change often; if something here is out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.
