Ori vs Replika

Both give you one AI character of your own. Pick Replika if you want a 3D avatar and a long-established app with features like real-time video recognition. Pick Ori if you want to design your character’s face, voice and personality yourself, with the same model and full memory on every plan, no ads, and chats that never train AI.

Choices Ori made differently

  • Replika sells some depth by tier: saving messages to memory and “smarter conversations” are Ultra features. In Ori, every plan gets the same model and the same memory.
  • No ads on any plan, and conversations are never sold or used to train AI.
  • The rules are written down up front: adults only, romance allowed, sexually explicit content not. That rules out what some people want, and the rules are published in the Terms.
  • Your character reaches out only when you ask them to, and their personality is the one you wrote, kept in every reply. Changing their look or voice keeps everything they know.

Where Replika is the better pick

  • A customizable 3D avatar, rather than photos and portraits.
  • Features Ori doesn’t have, such as real-time video recognition on its top tier.
  • Years of history: Replika has been around far longer, on iOS, Android and the web.
