Ori vs Y/n

Y/n is interactive fiction: you play the main character in stories the community writes, often set in fandoms you already love, and your texts change the plot. Choices Ori made differently

  • Y/n puts you inside a story with a plot to play through. Ori is an ongoing conversation with a character you designed, with no script and no ending.
  • You can call your Ori character and hear their replies in their own voice. Y/n’s own pages don’t mention voice.
  • Y/n’s terms allow advertising, and its privacy policy covers ad targeting and improving its machine learning models. Ori has no ads and never trains AI on your conversations.
  • Y/n is open to anyone 13 or older. Ori is for adults only.
  • Plus raises your limits; it doesn’t change the model or the memory. Free and Plus share the same model and unlimited memory, and Plus adds unlimited messages and more spoken replies, calls, photos and videos.
  • Your character reaches out only when you ask them to, and their personality is the one you wrote, kept in every reply. Changing their look or voice keeps everything they know.

Where Y/n is the better pick

  • Stories with a plot, from romance to adventure, where your choices change how they end.
  • A library of millions of community stories across fandoms, and the tools to write and publish your own.
  • Teens: Y/n is open from age 13, and Ori is not.

How we compared

This page is written by the team that makes Ori, so read it with that in mind. Every fact about Y/n comes from Y/n’s own website, help center, policies or app store listing, and each row links to its source. Where we couldn’t find something there, the table says so instead of guessing.

Y/n’s own pages don’t cover photos and media, voice, messaging first or memory, so the table leaves those out.
